Nissan Urges Owners to Stop Driving Certain Older Vehicles Over Exploding Airbag Inflators
Nissan and Infiniti owners should be cautious driving their vehicles after a person in a Nissan was killed by an exploding front-passenger inflator. The Japanese auto maker warned owners of older Nissan vehicles the Takata air bag inflators have an increased risk of exploding in a crash and hurling dangerous metal fragments.
Approximately 84,000 Nissan vehicles have been impacted by this issue. 2002 to 2006 Sentra’s, 2002 to 2004 Pathfinders and 2002 and 2003 Infiniti QX4s are the vehicles mentioned with defective air bags.

New Porsche 911 to Feature Hybrid Motor
Porsche recently unveiled their very first hybrid 911. This is a new innovative engine for the German sports luxury brand as it previously held off on producing a hybrid motor for its iconic sports car.
The new T-Hybrid (Turbo-Hybrid) system features a new turbocharged 3.6 liter six-cylinder boxer engine, a gearbox-mounted electric motor and a compact liquid-cooled lithium. The new 911 GTS will produce 534 bhp and up to 450 lb feet of torque. This is an increase of 60 bjp and 30 lb feet over the last gen.
The new 911 GTS will have .4 sec reduction in the 0-62 mph time at 3 seconds. The car will be 110.23 lbs heavier than last year’s model. This is mostly from the battery’s weight which is close to 60 lbs but the weight distribution is improved to a ratio of 37:63 front to rear.

The official Nürburgring lap time is 8.7 seconds faster than its predecessor at 7 minute 16.93 seconds. That’s close to 718 Cayman GT4 RS and four seconds slower than the 918 Spyder.
A key feature of the T-Hybrid’s system is the adoption of a new BorgWarner turbocharger that features an energy recuperation system operating through the capture of hot exhaust gases like the 2.0-liter V4 hybrid system on the 919 racers.
Pricing and the launch date have yet to be announced but expect to hear an official announcement soon.

This Could Be the End of the Line for the Toyota Supra
Is Toyota done with making more Supras? It looks like a next gen may not happen, according to an Automotive News column. The iconic Japanese sports car that has been featured in the Fast & Furious franchise appears to be discontinued for good after 2026.

Sports cars haven’t been as popular lately. Given the current gen Supra isn’t the brand’s top seller in the United States, this could be the end for the once popular sports car. Supra and Z4 sales moved very little in comparison to other models in Toyota’s and BMW’s lineup. The Supra accounted for 2,652 sales in 2023, down from 4,952 in 2022 and the Z4 sold 1,550 units in 2023, in comparison to 1,565 in 2022 and 2,367 in 2021.
We haven’t heard any official news from Toyota or BMW but it’s looking dim currently from all the speculation. Let’s hope they either co-develop a new car or Toyota decides to independently develop the Supra.
